 Vijah Singh's Unseemly Comments

 The neanderthals on the PGA tour are out in force as women's 
 professional golf ace Annika Sorenstam prepares to play at next 
 weeks men's Colonial Invitational. Neanderthal leader Vijah Singh 
 stated in no uncertain terms, "I hope she misses the cut."

 Vijah also stated. "...Because she doesn't belong out here.
 If I'm drawn with her, which I won't be, I won't play."

 Why Vijah? Because you and your other fellow neanderthals 
 on the men's tour feel threatened that if Annika actually performs 
 decently that more women might be encouraged to compete 
 against the men.

 Gee...interesting attitude Vijah.

 How awful the prospect that men's professional golf might 
 be exposed as a "leisurely" sport that is so undaunting that 
 women can actually compete on the same tour as the men.

 C'mon Vijah. Get over it. You sound like some ditto-head. 
 Women can't compete on the men's tour and you know it. 
 But, why all the righteous indignation over a one time experiment? 
 Is men's professional golf such a Holy Grail that "delicate" 
 blonde-haired Annika can't have her one tournament. After 
 all she won ELEVEN events on the women's LPGA tour last 
 year!

 Vijah aren't you even the least bit curious as to what Annika 
 can actually do? And the publicity is actually a good thing for 
 the game of golf. There is no such thing as bad publicity. By
 the way Vijah, in case you're unaware, most of the public believes 
 that all of you PGA tour guys are a bunch of rich, priviledged, 
 "you know what's" anyway.

 In some quarters it is mentioned Vijah that you're the product 
 of a "traditional culture." A lifestyle where the women are 
 supposed to stay in the background where they belong.  A 
 culture where marriages are arranged and men-folk do all of 
 the heavy thinking.

 Vijah. This is the United States of America. We are enlightened
 here. Although far from perfect. We do our best. Because we 
 know what a hurtful thing prejudice and bigotry can be. You of 
 all people Vijah should know about prejudice and racism. Because 
 afterall, even with all of your money and status as a successful
 professional golfer, you've probably been profiled, and god forbid,
 mistaken for some "up-to-no-good" black guy.

 Have you ever been stopped on the interstate for "Driving While 
 Mistaken For Black?"

 Talk to your friend Tiger Woods about what it is like to be black
 in America all of the time. Because Tiger actually is black! Well, 
 half-black anyway. But, it's the one drop thing. Maybe you should
 research that, too.

 And in the meantime Vijah. If the prospect of playing against
 poor little 5'6" tall Annika Sorenstam is so unsettling. Why 
 don't you go out into the world and find yourself a real job.

 Now that would be something!

 Vijah Singh later offered an apology. "If it was an attack on 
 Annika at all, I would like to apologize to her...It was not 
 put that way. It came out the wrong way."
