 The details are still quite sketchy. A bronze-skinned thirty-two 
 year old Iraqi lawyer named "Mohammed," visits a hospital in 
 Nasiriyah, Iraq to meet-up with his wife who is employed there 
 as a nurse. During his visit, Mohammed immediately notices an 
 unusual amount of security at the hospital. And soon taps into 
 the rumors of an American prisoner under guard there. 

 Mohammed - brave man - at some personal risk, asks around 
 until a doctor friend takes him to where the young soldier is
 being held. The prisoner is under guard by an imposing man 
 clad in black clothes. The guard is perhaps an Iraqi Fedayeen. 
 The Fedayeen have a well-deserved reputation as the most 
 vicious of loyalists to the evil Saddem Hussein.

 Mohammed is surprised that the prisoner is a young woman. 
 He watches in horror as the injured soldier, already helpless,
 and prone in bed, is brutally assaulted by the Fedayeen. Slapped 
 twice across her face. Once with an open palm. Next with the 
 back of the same hand.

 It is a horrible sight.

 The prisoner turns out to be Pfc. Jessica Lynch. A pale 19 year 
 old blonde from the state of West Virginia. Pfc. Lynch is a member 
 of the same military maintance crew that was ambushed and taken 
 prisoner during the first days of the war. Some of her fellow crew
 members have already been displayed on Iraqi television. The others 
 are missing and presumed dead.

 The gist of this story, is that Mohammed, under his own initiative,
 gets word to the American military as to private Lynch's whereabouts.
 She is subsequently whisked away, and taken to safety.

 And so the elements are in place for a poignant Hollywood retelling 
 of this tale of rescue in a foreign land. All that's needed is a young
 Yul Brunner-type to play the leading role of Mohammed. He will be
 all of the dashing Persian. Willing to risk life and limb in the eternal
 battle of Good vs. Evil. 

 A man of wit and intelligence. Come to save the day.

 No, no, no. Yul Brunner and his ilk are long gone. Legends from 
 another era of shameless exploitation. The year is 2003. This is a 
 role more suited for the latest new action hero. Vin Diesel. Wit 
 and intelligence are optional. In today's Hollywood image and 
 style are enough. No doubt there are roundtable discussions 
 going on already, as to how to get this great story onto the 
 screen. -- Who will direct?  Who will write the screenplay? Who 
 will star as the beautiful Jessica.

 America's new heroine.

 Time is wasting.

 But for the Hollywood version of this story. A bit of embellishment
 will be necessary . Mohammed must do something a bit more 
 exciting than merely march six lonely miles through the desert in 
 an effort to find some Americans. -- Any Americans.  Skulking 
 around the hospital, hiding in shadows, mapping the facility, 
 and scribbling notes to be passed to Special Ops forces.

 It is not enough.

 Perhaps in the Hollywood version of the story,  "Mohammed" 
 can single-handedly kill six Fedayeen with a Russian-made AK47 
 he found by the side of the road. Kill them dead, as the ruthless 
 murderers would have stopped at nothing to prevent his revealing 
 to the Americans, the location of Jessica Lynch.

 But, wait a minute. There is a "real" war going on, isn't there?

 Baghdad is the target of precision bombing every night. American 
 tanks are being shot at by guerillas with rocket-propelled grenades. 
 Friendly fire becomes deadly fire.

 The casualties mount on each side.

 Saddam quivers in an underground bunker like a coward -- If he 
 is not already in his grave.

 Where are his two sons? 

 Will the Republican Guard in a last act of desperation, use chemical
 or biological weapons?

 Is the Iraqi Information Minister telling his Disney World lies because 
 he is afraid for his own life? Or has he gone mad?

 There is a real war going on.

 The movie will just have to wait.
