 The Christian Evangelicals, Jerry Falwell, and The 
 Jews In Israel" { Who Needs That Kind of Love? }

 What an interesting little piece on the CBS newsmagazine 60 Minutes, 
 yesterday. It seems the Christian evangelicals love the Jews and the 
 state of Israel. In part because of the role the Jews are to play in the
 Second Coming of Christ according to the Book of Revelations. So 
 the Christian Right have set themselves up as the defenders of the
 state of Israel, and the right of the Jewish people to live and prosper
 on that holy land. Their land as deemed by God.

 But, do the Jewish people need that kind of love?

 The Christian Right believe they do. In the final battle between Good
 and Evil - which will be fought on the revered turf over there - the 
 Jewish people who have converted to the Christian faith will be saved, 
 and will rise up into heaven along with all the rest of the good people.

 The Christian Right do not love the Jewish people as Jews. They
 love them because it has been prophesied the Jews at Armageddon 
 will convert to Christianity, and will assist in that final battle to end 
 all battles.

 Be very wary if you're at the center of someone else's prophesy!

 And what about the Palestinians? What role do they have to play in
 all of this religious skulduggery?

 Very little according to Jerry Falwell. He has decided - according to 
 his interpretation of the word of God - that Islam is all but an evil religion. 
 And that the prophet Mohammed was a terrorist. He must see little of 
 worth in Islam, apparently. Because to the Muslims of this world, Islam 
 and the Prophet Mohammed are all but inseperable. 

 So if Mohammed was a terrorist, what does that make Islam?

 According to the 60 Minutes piece, even some Fundamentalist Jews in 
 Israel are welcoming the assistance and the support of their American 
 friends on the Far Right. It is an unlikely alliance indeed. This just 
 illustrates how frustrated and insecure the Jews in Israel really are. 
 To willing accept the "support" of groups who believe that all the Semitic 
 peoples must eventually convert to Christianity. In other words, that 
 the Jews must abandon the faith of their ancestors and accept Jesus 
 Christ as their Lord and Savior.

 This is the Jewish people's only way to salvation. At least, according
 to the Christian Right it is.

 Again, who needs that kind of love?
